What's New Pussycat? -- last updated 3.02.08
- 03/02/08 - Haha! I'm back! And you didn't think it would happen. Carnaval photos are NOT here yet, but I do have a massive Lila update.
Lila's photos begin with a "greatest hits" page and then continue on. Featuring THE BEACH!!! (As a reminder, this is for family/good friends only, so it's password protected. Thanks for understanding.)
- 02/13/08 - I live! I live! :) I have July & August done for Lila (with September, and the beach, hot on its heels) and one page of fireworks. Happy Valentine's Day as well!!
Carnaval photos are coming, so please be patient. I'm waiting on just a few more photos to come in before I get to work.
Lila's photos begin here. (As a reminder, this is for family/good friends only, so it's password protected. Thanks for understanding.) There is also a single page of firework photos from Fourth of July. Enjoy!
- 08/23/07 - I have set a land speed record and updated the next three months of Lila's section of my site. !!!! Do you realize that now I only lack July & August and I will be caught up? I'm practically DONE I'm so close. If I can get July-September done, I will be GOLDEN for October and birthday and Halloween and all the holiday stuff from there to the New Year before Carnaval.
I also have about 10 pages of non-Lila related stuff for my main website, so that's probably next on my list.
Lila's photos begin here. (As a reminder, this is for family/good friends only, so it's password protected. Thanks for understanding.) Once again, there has been no proofing for typos, so forgive me if you see something glaring.
- 08/19/07 - In yet another bold move, I have moved forward with another three month block of photo pages only (no baby update other than what's in the photo captions) of January-March 2007 of Lila. Please take a look! (As a reminder, this is for family/good friends only, so it's password protected. Thanks for understanding.) Lane was too tired tonight to proof, so let me know if you find any glaring errors! This puts me less than six months behind!! Are you excited? I know I am!!
- 07/9/07 - Three more quick pages that are NON-Lila-related. One of J9 & Kearson while she was pregnant and a few of New Year's Eve. One of Pitter & Grits and one of our backyard.
- 07/8/07 - I have made a BOLD MOVE and have decided to post photo pages only (no baby update other than what's in the photo captions) of the missing months of 2006 (October - December) of Lila. The photos are old, but still fun. :) It includes Halloween and Christmas! Please take a look! (As a reminder, this is for family/good friends only, so it's password protected. Thanks for understanding.) I will warn you that at this exact moment, Lane is asleep and I have no one to proof them for me, so I am just throwing caution to the wind and posting them anyway. I apologize in advance for any typos!
I hope to have another update done in the coming weeks, but we all know how that goes. At least I've brought us to 2007, right? ;)
- 05/30/07 - I know you won't believe me, but I have CARNAVAL PHOTOS!! Only a few (ok, MANY MANY) months late!! YAY!!
I barely survived doing Carnaval photos this year. I started out with who knows how many photos to go through, and ended up with 22 pages with 324 photos on them. It's been a long haul, for various reasons. You can read about it on the pages themselves.
Come on down! The Carnaval main intro page has been updated with our new costumes, and the main photos for 2007 start here. I hope you enjoy your time! All photos are SFW, a little risque, maybe, but SFW. I try to keep it clean around here. :)
Now all I have to do are six plus months of Lila photos. SIGH. A website's work is never done.
- 12/19/06 -
Merry Christmas and happy holidays, everyone, whatever flavor of holiday you celebrate. I hope this Christmas finds you well, warm and with your dearest family and friends. Life is good on our end. Look for end-of-year photos around the first of January. :)
- 10/25/06 - Be honest, you didn't expect to see me back here so soon. WELL I'M BACK BAY-BEE and I bought photos with me! :) Three more non-Lila pages and a gazillion ALL-Lila are in store for you. I've done a greatest hits for Lila's photos this post, so don't be quite so afraid, OK? :)
- 10/16/06 - Happy 2006, everyone, almost just in time for it to be 2007!! I am FINALLY dragging myself to the computer for a massive update. Lila photos will come in a few days, but for now, I will post the non-child-related photos.
- 02/14/06 - Happy Valentine's Day, all! But, most importantly, HAPPY CARNAVAL PHOTO TIME!! YAY!!
I've survived another year of preparing Carnaval photos. :) After starting out with over 800 photos, weeding them down to a usable 250ish and then paring those down to 180, I placed them on a grand total of 21 pages. WHEW!! Don't ask me to work on another photo any time soon, OK?
Anyway, please come take a look. There's the main intro page that has been updated to reflect the new costumes, plus a new section on costuming tips, and then there's the main section specifically for 2006 photos. I hope you enjoy your time! All photos are SFW, a little risque, maybe, but SFW.
- 12/30/05 - Happy Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year, everyone! I hope you spent your holidays having fun and surrounded by family and friends. We had a great time, and Lila and I both had birthdays, and it even managed to get cold(ish) here for a few days. There's a lot to catch up on, including:
Happy New Year again and see you in the Spring - AFTER CARNAVAL!!!!
On a more serious note, I need to let you know that two dear friends lost close family since we last spoke. Shay Wurz, my good friend I've known since we were both in our teens, lost her mother Beverly in late October. Neva Randall, a long-time friend and Lila's honorary Aunt, lost her daughter Renee in late September. Both deaths were so sudden and unexpected, and we're still trying to recover from the shock. Please keep both of them and their families in your prayers and thoughts.
- 9/28/05 - Happy end of summer, everyone. I hope you had a great one. For us, it started out lush and green and temperate, and ended up just this week with BONE CRUSHING temperatures topping 108. Hot, hot, hot....and, oh, yes, DRY. We took Lila for her first trip to the beach a few weeks ago, so there's a staggering number of photos from that, as well as other goodies, in the baby update! You can also see photos of how my hair is shaping up as well as photos of The Girls as well as some photos of our New Kitty! See you later - probably after Halloween!
- 7/5/05 - And you only thought I was late before with my update!! FOUR MONTHS!! For at least the first part, I had an excuse....I got this fantastic freelance job, they hired me initially for 80 hours in about 4 weeks, and it ended up being 392 hours in 42 days. If you don't want to get out your calculators, that's 9.3 hours a day, 7 days a week, for six weeks (yes, it can be done!). It was like being in Computer Prison. HOWEVER, it was extremely lucrative, as we paid off all of our credit cards, making Lane and me DEBT FREE for the first time since we were married. It's amazing! I even have my property taxes taken care of for January 2006 and PAID MY PARENTS BACK what they had loaned me. Life is good. So, there was this period where I was working my tail off instead of updating the site, and then several other smaller freelance jobs came in right on the heels of the huge job - I'm taking it as a sign that the economy is on the upswing - and then it just sort of snowballed into many, many months of total inactivity on the site.
Thank you for those of you who have noticed my absence (well, really, the absence of any news of Lila!) and emailed me to check on things. All is well! Now I'm totally finished and ready to STAY ON TARGET for the next updates!
Before I go on, on a serious note, I'd like to say that a dear friend, Lila's Uncle Taylor Hammack, Jr., has passed away. He was the son of Lila's namesake, Lila Hammack. He died June 12th in San Marcos of a massive heart attack. We were so fortunate to have seen him just days before for his 64th birthday and celebrate with his sisters, Lila's Aunts Neva and Sharon. It is devastating to have lost him, especially when Lila is so young, but I believe that he has joined his parents watching over us all, but especially Lila, sharing in her joys and sorrows and keeping an eye out for her well-being. He loved her like a niece in life, I know he will continue to love her in the next life. He will be extremely missed.
And now, on to the photos....Get started on Lila's update/photos here! You can also see photos of how my hair is shaping up (plus a shocking announcement), see what happened during the freak hail storm, photos of the front garden Lane and I put in as well as some general photos from this spring.
- 3/16/05 - OMG, how late am I with this update?? It's been over two months since my last baby update, and I'm feeling pretty guilty! I hope you're ready to SEE SOME PHOTOS! :) Get started here! You can also see photos of various family and friends, OUR NEW CAT Mimsy, and two pages of photos of my new, short, BLONDE haircut!! (No, really, I'm serious, I cut it all off and bleached it blonde!!) Thanks for your patience on this update. I know I was a total liar last month when I said an update was coming. Hopefully this will be worth the wait.
- 2/8/05 - Happy late New Year! :) This is a BABY FREE UPDATE....because, for those of you keeping track, CARNAVAL was this past weekend. Come see all the costumes and fun we had this year. You can start with the intro page I wrote about Carnaval in general and then go from there to the 2005 photos, or just skip it and head straight to the photos. Your call! :) Baby photos to come later this month, don't worry. :)
- 1/5/05
"Merry Christmas" or whatever flavor holiday you celebrate! Happy New Year, too! We had a wonderful holiday this year, and we have a TON of photos to share of our happy times. There were some days for dressing up, some wonderful Christmas lights, and a wonderful evening of New Year's fireworks. There are also SO MANY photos of Lila, you probably want to just skip it altogether. :) Just in case you're up for it, though, go on to her news page and get started.
Just as an FYI, I've split up my old pregnancy info, Lila's first year and her second year into three separate pages now, instead of having them all on on page, so you won't have to wait so long for the page to load.
- 12/3/04 - Happy Thanksgiving (among other things)....we had a mini family reunion and the girls got together to play. I am another year older (no photos) - YAY for surviving another year! :) As you might have expected, there's plenty new baby news and about a TON of photos, so you'd better get started now.
- 10/21/04 - Lots of stuff, lots of stuff....We have some photos from Med Fest and some AMAZING photos of some clouds I took a few weeks ago. There's also (gasp!) some new baby news and SO MANY photos (including from her BIRTHDAY PARTY) that you might as well just quit working this afternoon because you'll be here all day. Lila is practically one year old (just days away). I know, it freaks me out too. I have also added a really, really cool quotations section to my site, and also updated my links section. The links section now includes links to friends' sites, and is organized better for folks using the "useful and cool" links. I hope you like it. I've also completed a new freelance project. Yay!
And, something so special it deserves its own line in my What's New listing: After almost five long years, I have finally, finally, FINALLY put Lane's and my European Honeymoon vacation photos online. We were in Europe for a month. Come read and see all about it.
- 9/21/04 - We have some mildly fabu photos (at long last) and some new baby news and photos. Lila is almost one year old. AMAZING.... There's also some sad news: my cat of 14 years, Edie, has died. I did a tribute page for her here. Something cool I just discovered that has nothing to do with my site, this cool artist Ray Caesar you should check out.
- 8/4/04 - There is excitement in the yard and other places, photos from Jazz & Dustin's wedding and (GASP) also new baby news and photos. Thanks for stopping by!
- 6/10/04 - Lots of new stuff, and not all of it baby-related! We just got back from a vacation to a ranch in the hill country. J9 had a May Day party, we had a swarm of bees and there's something that happened back in February where our house almost burned down. There is also, as you HAD to have anticipated new baby news with a TON of photos. Enjoy!
- 4/27/04 - Come see the new baby news, featuring a new update, and SEVEN pages of photos - I'm not MUCH smitten with her, can you tell?! There are also various photos from our times in April's beautiful weather and photos of Thanksgiving in March! Woo woo! See, I am fitting in a few things that aren't TOTALLY Lila-related.
- 3/12/04 - Come see the new baby news, featuring a new update, and five pages of photos! We've also redesigned the SufferinStudios website! It's WAY overdue, and we love the results. Come see! There are also new puppy photos! Yay! Lots of new things! People on my baby update email list - if you have not been receiving my updates, PLEASE, PLEASE and let me know. I've heard some people's spam filters are blocking my updates, so let me know if you end up here and you're like, I didn't get that email! Thank you!
- 2/8/04 - CARNAVAL PHOTOS ARE HERE!!!! Eight pages begin here!
- 1/31/04 - Sooooooooooo....I've been working on my site. If you haven't done any browsing lately, I recommend that you give it a shot. Start with my main page and just go crazy. I have new intro pages for just about every section, and a totally new navigational system. I'm using javascript menus on each page, with a main "topnav" that will navigate you through the entire site and more detailed "second navs" underneath them for each different section. Head to the me section to see what I'm talking about. I had what Tracy would call a "come to Jesus" talk with myself about my site, and I'm just plain tired of the bulk of the links being 5 or 6 years old (like previously off the "me" page it still talked about Lane being my BOYFRIEND, of all things) and the rest being found from this "what's new" page, so I was a big HERO and spent every spare moment over the last few weeks and reorganized everything and tried to find a PLACE for every page in my site. I've got a new sitemap and all kinds of new info. I hope you enjoy it.
Also, and something that might affect you, I've password protected the bulk of the new photos of Lila (my daughter) from this point forward. If you're a stranger to me, you'll still be able to see occasional photos on her page and text updates about her on this page, but the great majority of the new photos will now be restricted to my family and friends. I hope you can understand. It's one thing to have my life on parade, but it's another to have my daughter's out there. If you're a friend or family member who has forgotten the password I sent you, or if I missed you when I went to send it out, and let me know and I'll get you the info you need immediately! Thank you for understanding! So for those people with the password, you can see an update on Lila here.
- 1/03/04 - Happy New Year and come see the new news! Featuring updated animated photos of my belly (going DOWN, yay!), a general update & FOUR pages of photos of Lila, our baby angel.
- 12/19/03
Just a note and a photo to say "Merry Christmas" or whatever flavor holiday you celebrate. Lane and I are feeling especially blessed this year, and Christmas is so much sweeter with our little girl to share it with. We wish you all a wonderful holiday and hope that you have the happiest of New Years.
Stay warm, stay safe, and take care.
- 11/24/03 - Lots of new things to report! Featuring updated animated photos of my belly (going UP and going DOWN), a general update & photos of Lila, the sweet bean.
- 10/31/03 - Happy Halloween from our little pumpkin!
- 10/30/03 - THE LILA HAS LANDED. See details here and photos here!
- 10/18/03 - No baby yet. But there are pumpkin carving party photos on Lane's site!
- 10/14/03 - No baby yet. Come see all the news that is news! Featuring updated animated photos of my belly, a general update & photos. Now, with extra bitterness and discomfort!
- 10/1/03 - We're in the home stretch now, only 3-4 weeks left - come see all the news that is news! Featuring updated animated photos of my belly, a general update & measurements and new, fabulous, professional photos of my gloriously huge self!
- 9/4/03 - No, could it be, NOT REALLY - MORE pregnancy updates! Featuring updated animated photos of my belly, a general update and new photos! Only 8 weeks to go before we start having actual BABY UPDATES!!! :)
- 8/13/03 - You guessed it - more pregnancy updates! Featuring updated animated photos of my belly, a general update, new ultrasound photos and photos of me in a swimsuit!
- 7/17/03 - More pregnancy updates! Featuring updated animated photos of my belly, a general update and NURSERY PHOTOS. Apparently, I lied last time when I said I was going to put up non-pregnancy-related stuff "soon"! :) Please forgive me!!
- 6/22/03 - More pregnancy updates! Featuring updated animated photos of my belly and a general update. I promise to put up something non-pregnancy related SOON! I have the photos set aside and everything!! :)
- 5/28/03 - More pregnancy updates! Featuring, THE SEX AND NAME OF THE BABY, ultrasound photos, an updated heartbeat and updated animated photos of my belly. :) Enjoy!
- 5/8/03 - Finally, the pregnancy page is up! Featuring, the heartbeat, animated photos of my belly (and the rest of me) and reports on the minutia of my pregnancy. :) Enjoy!
- 5/2/03 - I got a haircut! They took off six or seven inches, and I love it. It feels great, and I think it's a perfect way to start the summer (especially pregnant)! I was starting to feel all anxious about cutting it, like I had it too long FOR too long and now my hair was ruling me instead of me ruling my hair, so I KNEW it was time to cut it, and OFF IT WENT. Hair grows, and I shouldn't forget it!!
On the pregnancy front, all continues very well. I'm into my 14th week (into my second trimester) and I am already showing and am in maternity pants. Photos will come soon, probably in two or three weeks, as soon as there's enough to put together into a nice slideshow. We heard the heartbeat two weeks ago, and as soon as JR gets the chance, he's going to MP3 it and put it online here for me. I will let you know! :) The midwife said that the heartbeat was very strong and healthy and that I was proceeding exactly as I should. We'll be having a sonagram in June sometime to determine the sex, but Sondra and I are CONVINCED I'm having a girl, so keep your fingers crossed! Lane and I have names picked out already, but I won't tell what they are until we know if it's a boy or a girl.
- 4/14/03 - A book is found! Another book is missing!
- 3/16/03 - J9 keeps updating her site! Come see the new photos - some of them Carnaval-related!!! Thanks, J9!!! (ps. FYI, her site doesn't work at all in Netscape, because she (and/or her husband, who set the whole thing up) does suck, just a little! But open it up in IE and enjoy!)
- 3/2/03 - I have a personal announcement! Come see!
- 2/10/03 - GUESS WHAT?!?! Carnaval photos are here!!!! Carnaval was Saturday night, and because we did digital photos only, I was inspired to get them online ASAP!
- 1/28/03 - Wheeeee, I'm back!! With lots of photos for you to enjoy. WIG index STILL TO COME!!
Also, CARNAVAL is coming. Get your tickets now, before they're sold out! We're already HIP DEEP in our costumes! This year is going to ROCK HUGE! (ps. yes, I know that when you go to the Carnaval website that I am in BOTH 2001 and 2002 photos! Yay me! Thank you to all of you who emailed to tell me!)
- 12/31/02 - Geeze it has been TOO long since I've been here, and I have a ton of new photos, but none ready to put up! A WIG INDEX is coming, I know you can't wait....since we've last spoken, I've had a very happy birthday (turned 34, can you believe it?!?), had a happy Thanksgiving and Christmas with family and a 4 year wedding anniversary. AND, my folks and Lane and I saw the Kingston Trio tonight performing with the Austin symphony!! New Years will find us celebrating with Sondra and her comedy troupe. I've seen a bit of the new material and it is HYSTERICAL - I can already feel it working its way into my vernacular. More photos will come soon, I promise, but for now, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May 2003 bring you health, happiness, the opportunity to do good for your friends, your family, and for those who need your help, as well as the ability to receive the help of others with grace and humility. Take care of your souls this year, people, and HUG MORE! Hugging is good. Read this. It's a good way to start a new year.
xoxoxo, me
- 11/12/02 - Lots of new updates. On a personal note, I was laid off last week. But never fear! We're not worried and all will be well. With every closed door comes a new opportunity and I'm looking forward to my future opportunities! But on to the website updates!!!
On another note, the piano teacher I've spoken about before from my youth passed away last week. Her name was Lila Hammack and she taught hundreds of children to play the piano. She was active in her church and with her family, who were blessed to have her for 83 years. I'm so happy she and I rekindled our friendship this summer, and I will treasure the memories I have of my time with her, both as a child and as an adult.
- 10/31/02 - Happy Halloween!!! The Halloween webcam is up and running; come peek in on me! (If I'm away, it's because I've gone trick-or-treating in my building!)
Here are some static photos, in case you miss me at the webcam!
- 10/24/02 - An update to the bellydance section on your sword and Texas law!
- 10/18/02 - Several new photos! Come see!
- 10/15/02 - J9 has her own website. There are some SUPER photos there of a recent music festival and of her birthday; you should check it out! (Her site doesn't work in Netscape; forgive her, she's still new at this website stuff!)
- 10/9/02 - I recently discovered that the author of one of my favorite books (Mary Karr, author of "The Liars' Club") is a fantastic, amazing poet. Quite frankly, I usually hate other people's poetry. Usually it sucks. But Mary Karr's collection of poems, "Viper Rum", is FANTABULOUS. On what you will understand is related in just a minute, there's the fact that it's been kind of a really stressful/crappy week, starting on Friday with Sarah's death and with a few other nasty, depressing, personal things, and it had led me to be in a pretty dark place in my head lately. One of Ms. Karr's poems really struck home on that front, and I wanted to share it here in case anyone else is having a really sucky time of it inside of themselves. (PS. My mom loves this poem, too; she almost didn't make it back out of my bathroom on Sunday because she started reading these poems. Me, I'm rationing them to myself one or two a night. I'm about to run out!)
Incant Against Suicide
Buy neither gun nor blue-edged blade.
Avoid green rope, high windows, rat
poison, cobra pits, and the long vanishing point
of train tracks that draw you to horizon's razor.
Only this way will another day refine you. (Natural death's
no oxymoron) Your head's a bad neighborhood:
Don't go there alone, even if you have to stop
strangers to ask the way, and even if
spiders fall from your open mouth.
This talk's their only exit. How else
would their scramble from your skull
escape? You must make room first
that the holy spirits might enter. Empty
yourself of self, then kneel down to listen.
Plus, one more for good measure, just so you can continue to view her brilliance:
Summons (or This Won't Hurt You a Bit, and It'll Cheer Me Up)
For an instant I looked away, and an ocean
blossomed between us, 3000 miles
of wild silk rippling. On the other side
your unreachable body. Listen,
the globe's meridians bore me,
and I deplore time zones and the lone heart's
metronome without your broad chest
thumping close counterpoint. No breath I draw
will properly fill my lungs till your fine spirit
again issues into me. No eyes will level pierce
this heart's core till your gaze again
sends the deep arrows flying. Darling,
remember: our faces in proximity make
a pure small space - a vessel or goblet
that could hold the whole Atlantic. Always
I stare you-ward: come spill yourself in me.
Mary Karr has written "Abacus", "The Devil's Tour", "The Liars' Club", "Viper Rum", and "Cherry: a Memoir". I've read only the third and fourth, but I hope to remedy that soon. :) My daddy keeps buying me her first editions and getting them signed for me. My copy of "The Liars' Club" says "To D.K. - keep kicking butt and taking names - Mary Karr".
(The poems I've written here are copyright Mary Karr, and I probably shouldn't have reprinted them without her permission! But I must share my love for her, so I break the law!!
- 10/7/02 - Very, very sad. A very old friend, Pammy, lost a teenage daughter on Friday. I hadn't seen Sarah, the daughter, in almost 10 years, and I am so sad to have lost the opportunity to know her as a young woman. Both her parents are good people who are devestated by this loss, as is their second daughter, who is grieving the unbelievable loss of her sister. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they struggle through this incredibly difficult time. I miss you, Pammy. I'm sorry I'm not there. :(
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Life is short. Treasure it. Live, love, forgive and never stop trying to be better than you are. One of the quotes in my current sig is:
Stare. It is the way to educate your eye, and more. Stare, pry, listen
eavesdrop. Die knowing something. You are not here long.
- 9/24/02 (in the afternoon) - Come see these great photos from years long gone! Don't miss all three pages! (I'll be putting up more photos in this section in the upcoming weeks, fyi!)
- 9/24/02 - YOU MUST GO TO THIS SITE - Amber Forever and once you're there and know what's going on, READ THIS - Visited by Zeus. You will not regret it!
And "Family Affair" is the first thing to go from our TV schedule. It sucks. I'm sad for Tim Curry. Avert your eyes. Watch "Clue" or "Legend" or "Rocky Horror" or, geeze, even "Annie" to wipe this from your mind's eye. (However, "Fastlane" rocks. :) As do "Firefly" and "Everwood". They stay!)
- 9/23/02 - There was dancing. We dressed up. You know the drill. Click here.
- 9/20/02 - I forgot one! Leftover photos! Oopsie!
- 9/18/02 - So, ANOTHER TON of random photos, eighty-one, to be exact. :) Enjoy!
- 9/9/02 - I'd like to say WONDERFUL CONGRATULATIONS SONDRA, for her premiere in "American Idle: Search for a Supersize (or - He ain't Heavy, He's my Big Brother)", the first in hopefully many installments of sketch comedy by Gag Reflex - their website is down today, I just noticed, please try again later! She KICKS BUTT (and is cute while she does it)!
As a little bit of trivia about my site, I get between 5,000 and 8,000 individual hits on my site every month (and in August, I got over 10,000!). I'm beginning to get an interesting (alarming?) number of hits from IPs in Saudi Arabia, Iran, China and Korea. Why? We don't know. Bellydance traffic has picked up, so maybe it's related to that....? I'm just guessing! There's also an IP in Michigan (possibly Philadelphia, don't ask) that keeps a pretty close eye on me. Who are you, Michigan/Philadelphia lurker?! Anyway, I thought you'd be interested. Sondra's section is getting a fair number of those hits, too (as is the Dabbs section - but they advertise, so that's to be expected). Yay, Sondra!!
- 9/6/02 - No doubt some of the sweetest words in the English language: "biopsy negative". :) Yippie! I'm eating solid foods again, and took my first pain free bite of something (two DELICIOUS hamburgers off Rita and Sergio's grill) on Monday. The surgeon says I'm healing up nicely, and should recover all sensation and mobility in the next month or so. (If you need a recommendation for an oral/maxillofacial plastic surgeon in Austin and I'll give you a name!)
And, just for grins, you need to watch "The Royal Tenenbaums" (best movie AND soundtrack I've seen all year) and you need to visit this site - warning to Trekkies, this may rock your world in ways you don't anticipate!! Also, for those of you not on my email spam list, watch "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" as soon as possible!
- 8/30/02 - OK, my "minor impending surgery" has come and gone, and still I live!!! I will have photos up soon (did you have to ask?) of how gross my mouth looks. Biopsy results back in approximately 10, count 'em, 10 days. In the meantime, I'm still eating soup (sloppily) and trying not to talk (it's working out better than you'd think). Lane is taking SUPER good care of me. THANK YOU LANE!!! XOXOXOXOX!
On a completely unrelated note, I don't think I took a SINGLE photo of Kat's visit this past weekend, not of the tie-dying party, nor the Gay/Lesbian Independent Film Festival we attended, nor of the movie party where we watched "Better Living Through Circuitry" - a FANTASTIC movie, you should see it. We will have to relive the weekend only in our minds (where we all look better anyway, if you ask me). Thanks for visiting, Kat! We love you!! Hurry back!
- 8/23/02 - So, a TON of random photos. Just under 100. Don't let that scare you. Dive right in!
- 8/7/02 - I've added a set of button links above to several charity sites. Clicking through to them and then clicking "donate now" donates money or food to the particular charities with which the websites are affiliated. Click them! It's free, and you'll be doing a good thing for others!
- 7/31/02 - I was the Matron of Honor this past weekend at Constance's wedding. Come see photos!
- 7/11/02 - Photos of the piano are here!
- 7/9/02 - Lane and I got a piano!!! Big thanks to Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Fred for the gift, and HUGE HUGE thanks to Daddy for driving 6 hours each way to deliver it to my door. Thank you to Jason, Lane and Loyd for contributing to the brute force that got it in the house. I can't wait to start playing again! Bring your earplugs! :)
- 6/13/02 - Sooooooooo....I took the afternoon off Tuesday because I had a doctor's appointment (impending minor surgery - wheeeeeeee!) and on the way home from Target, a thousand year old lady driving a HUGE boat of a car with a handicapped plate crossed FOUR lanes of traffic at 15mph to RUN ME OFF THE ROAD while I was going 50mph and I went up onto the curb going WAY too fast. My car made horrible, damaged noises while I watched her drive on, oblivious to the accident she'd just caused. I drove for a quarter of a mile flattening my rim trying to get her to stop, which she DIDN'T. She just waved at me, like I was driving by to say "hi". Because I was on top of it enough not to hit her, she, according to the police, isn't guilty of leaving the scene of a crime, and all they can charge her with is reckless
driving, assuming an officer witnesses some further indiscretion. The 911 operator I talked to told me that, while it wasn't in my best interest LEGALLY to not hit her (I have no recourse to sue her, for example, had she caused MAJOR damage to my vehicle), it WAS in my best interest as a human being, because, as fast as I was going, had I broadsided her on the driver's side (which I totally would have done, had I not chosen to run my car off the road), I probably would have killed her, and might have killed myself or someone else following me in the process. Fortunately, the only damage was my tire, which was TOTALLY SHREDDED, and Lane came and rescued me and changed my tire in 95 degree weather (that's love for you - though I feel compelled to point out that I am more than perfectly capable of changing my own tire. I actually took care of removing the lug nuts while Lane got the spare out of the trunk.) I have a new tire now, and the mechanic who replaced it assured me that there was no further damage to my car. Thank goodness! Additional good news is that I have tracked the woman down and am going to write her a polite, but concerned, letter asking her to be more aware. She's older than dirt, and probably ought to not even be on the road any longer (the super-nice cop who showed up agreed with me), and I want her to understand that she not only could have killed me, but could have caused her own death, or the death of an innocent bystander. AND I made my doctor's appointment on time, no less.
On another note, I have my FIRST kickboxing injury!
I wrapped my left hand incorrectly with the hand wraps on Wednesday and totally bruised my knuckle while hitting the bag in class. I appear to be healing, but I took this picture for posterity, which actually doesn't do it justice - I am MUCH more butch and bruised than this photo reveals! I love my bruises, don't you? :)
- 6/6/02 - A few things....
- Photos to come soon of my trip to Missouri to see Jennifer get her Master's Degree (congratulations, Jen!) - we had a blast!
- Happy birthday John! Spank, spank!
- Happy (late) birthday Pennina! HUGE NEKKID spank spank!
- POSSIBLE photos to come (depends on how they came out from Rita's disposable "waterproof" camera) of the tubing trip a big group took to New Braunfels last weekend. If you want to have a great day, head to Rockin R and enjoy! TAKE SUNSCREEN!
- I'm moving towards my third month of getting up at 5:45 AM (no, you didn't misread, for those who know me and my intense love affair with SLEEP) and working out from 6-7 (kickboxing and water aerobics, alternating days). I love it! Kickboxing rules! Water aerobics are great! I'm sleeping better, looking better, PLUS, I can kick your ass now, so WATCH OUT!!
- AND, kind of saving the best for last, I hereby unveil the professional website I did for Sondra in her capacity as actor, singer and all-around entertainer. She has some of the most beautiful headshots around, many taken by my wonderful husband, Lane! Enjoy!
- 5/9/02 (later) - Sondra just called to tell me that Kevyn Aucoin (makeup artist, author, fabulous human) has died. It happened Tuesday, May 7th. Kevyn has been a constant source of inspiration to me as I have done more and more theatrical makeup and I will miss him greatly. If you'd like to know more about him, I would encourage you to visit his official website. Kevyn wrote this just prior to dying. It's beautiful and written with great clarity, perhaps with the clarity that is only possessed by someone who feels their own death approaching. Read it. It's really wonderful.
Today I choose life -
Every morning when I wake up I can choose joy, happiness, negativity, pain, To feel the freedom that comes from being able to continue to make mistakes and choices - today I choose to feel life, not to deny my humanity but embrace it. To embrace the fear of not knowing, of not having control over much of anything except my reaction to it and the control I have over my self and my actions. I let go of my sadness over past hurts to make room for today's journey. I've heard that life is a series of old doors closing and new doors opening, but its hell in the hallways. The fear of not knowing - were the next 30 days shown to me, would I want to go through the motions of reliving what I had been shown? Or would I want to prevent problems and change my own destiny? Well, I cannot tell the future but I can choose to direct my heart and soul towards good and loving acts - to say a silent prayer for the happiness of all - for the good to shine through. Just by thinking one positive thought I am redirecting my moment, my day, my life.
Today I choose -
lol

- 5/9/02 - To balance out my bad news, Rita and Sergio graciously got married (OK, that's not why they got married, but it worked out well for me!). Come see the photos!
- 5/3/02 -
So, more sad news. On May 1st, Powell Crowley, a friend and coworker, died after a brief but difficult battle with cancer. Powell was one of those people you (at least I!) gravitated towards immediately. He was truly a pistol of a person, full of energy and life. On the surface, he might have appeared to be very businesslike and professional (and he was BOTH of those things), but as you got to know him, he revealed the devious, Harley-riding, waitstaff-harassing, loud, black Russian-drinking, bathtub Porsche mechanic he truly was at heart. Ever ready with his wit, he had these blue eyes that sparkled with mischief and laughter, and when I was around him, even after he became ill, he was always trying to put me at ease and to make me smile and laugh. He was extremely active in his church and was very loved and respected by those he met there. He led about a thousand lives in his one life, from lumberjack to Navy medic to master potter to VP of our company. My favorite quote about him is "everything Powell seemed to do for fun included a tractor!" Powell loved his family more than anything in his life, and he leaves behind a beautiful wife and four children, ages 2-11. I feel so privileged to have known Powell for the time I did, and I know I'm going to carry his smile around with me, especially when I see a Harley zoom by. Ride easy, Powell. We'll miss you.
- 4/8/02 - Happy Birthday Lane! Actually, this past weekend was his bday, but I'll say it here now!! Also, I'm posting an email I sent to friends and family about a problem Lane and I had the other night. Come see! It could really help you out!
- 3/20/02 - Happy Spring, all! It's the Vernal (Spring) Equinox today. Celebrate it as you like. I will be at bellydance, celebrating another spring and the sight of the bluebonnets, starting to peek out on the sides of the highways here.
Completely unrelated to this, I have something to say - read it if you like.
- 2/28/02 - OK, I have really bad news. My sister's husband David was killed Tuesday morning while on vacation with Robin and friends skiing at Vail. They believe he hit some ice and was thrown into the trees where he was killed instantly. He was 43. I really liked him - he was funny and obnoxious and strong and kind and he and my sister have been sweethearts since they were both in high school. I still haven't really been able to process that he's gone. My thoughts and prayers are with my sister in what is undoubtedly her most difficult hour.
They were able to donate several of his organs, and I am extremely proud of Robin and of David's family for making that decision. In their sadness, they remembered all the good that can be done with his organs for people with real medical needs.
This just reminds me that we all need to take care of saying what we need to say to the people in our lives that we love. Be certain that you've said all you need to say, so you don't end up with regrets down the line. Life is extremely fragile, and one minute we're here, having a good time, and the next your families and friends are trying to make sense of what's happened. If there is anything I'm taking away from this, it's that.
Oh, and not to sound trite at all, but also to have your organ donor cards on you, and to be certain that those around you know what your wishes are with regard to your organs and your preferences for burial arrangements so they aren't left guessing as to your intentions when you're not here to help them. (I am a huge proponent of both organ donation and of Living Wills....the links above will lead you to information about them both.)
Take care of each other, and cherish your lives and friends and families!
- 2/25/02 - CARNAVAL PHOTOS ARE HERE!
Bonus photos of no one thing in particular are here!
- Page 1 Test photos Lane took
- Page 2 More test photos
- Page 3 Rita and me at the ballet, misc friends
- Page 4 Misc puppies!
- 2/21/02 - Just a quick word to say that I am STILL working on the Carnaval photos! I have had to order prints online of other folk's photos, and I want to put them all up together! Hang in there!
- 2/19/02 - Mom and Daddy came over on Saturday and something way cool happened while they were at our house. Come see!
- 2/15/02 (later that day) - I told you I'd be back!! :) And you didn't believe me. Silly you. I have 8 new pages (what is it with the 8 today?) of photos of our New Year's Eve party. Soon, soooooon, there will be HALF NAKED CARNAVAL PHOTOS!!! I have them scanned and ready-to-go. :)
- 2/15/02 - I'll bet you thought I wasn't going to come back this soon, right?! :) Well, FOO ON YOU, because, here I am, chock full of 8 new pages of photos from Sondra's birthday party. Just to number them, so you can be certain not to miss any, you can click on the following numbered links (just use your back button to return to this list):
There is the distinct possibility I'll be back later today with photos from New Year's and Carnaval, you never know! So come back soon and see!!
- 2/14/02 - Long time, no web updates! Happy Valentine's Day! :) I have recovered from throwing too many parties over the holidays, and have spent January properly in hibernation, as one should following the holidays. I'm about to put up photos from Sondra's bday party and from our New Year's Eve party. SOON, very soon, I promise you photos from Carnaval 2002, which was February 2nd. (We had SO MUCH FUN.) I will also show you how fabulous Rita and I looked when we went to the ballet last week (I wore my blonde wig - we were FABULOUS and she was radiant and we giggled like schoolgirls all night). Meanwhile, I leave you with a photo of a bracelet I got at a local Celtic festival back forever ago of the goddess Diana, the hunter, and her hounds and horses. I almost never take it off, I love it so much!
I've been meaning to take my own photo of it for ages now, and I just now found one online at the website of the artists who made it, Black Horse Designs, so I thought I'd put it up while I say hi.
One last Valentine's shout-out to Rita and Sergio, recently engaged and soon-to-be married. I love you two! All the happiness in the world!
- 12/26/01 - Merry Christmas, everyone! Happy Birthday Sondra! Happy almost New Year's! To celebrate the total lack of anything to do at work today, I have put several long-overdue pages online. They include photos from a disco party we attended, right on through Tim's birthday and several other fab shots from the summer. I've consolidated some pages into a new section (The Fab Photos Section), which you can see reflected in my sitemap. Just to number them, so you can be certain not to miss any, you can click on the following numbered links (just use your back button to return to this list):
- 12/15/01 - Hi folks from the LTAH board. :) <waves madly>
Also, there is a new freelance site, Redeye Investigations. I have to say I loved designing this site. Just call me Boyd. Dana Boyd. <sips vodka martini, medium dry, shaken not stirred>
- 12/07/01 - This is an AMAZING ARIAL PHOTO of the WTC site. Sondra and I were able to find three flags hanging from the sides of buildings close to the site. Very moving....my thoughts and prayers go out to the individuals involved in the daily cleanup, and I thank them for their deidication to the task they perform on this hallowed ground where so many souls were lost. I've been collecting September 11th items for months now, and I hope to have a simple memorial section up before the end of the year.
Keep focused, everyone. We are just beginning this fight, and we need to stay strong and unified in the time to come. May God, in all of His incarnations bless America, and may God bless us all, in all parts of the world.
- 12/06/01 - Two things! First, there is a new freelance site, Barton Springs Chiropractic. They're great folks. If you live in Austin and need any kind of chiropractic or massage care, please check them out!
Second, there was an Outing to see some local firedancers perform; come see pics!
- 10/31/01 - So it's Halloween again. :) Seems like just yesterday I was pulling the Succubus out of her grave, when suddenly I am Disco Whore. :) Please Click here to go to the webcam! Happy Halloween, everyone!
- 09/12/01 - I want to say that I am saddened and outraged by the recent attack on America, and I want to extend my deepest sympathies and prayers to all the people affected, both at home and abroad. I work in the financial services industry, and many people I know have lost co-workers and family. I've been fortunate to have heard many miraculous stories of people making it out of the World Trade Center from as high up as the 97th floor, and for those blessings, I am extremely thankful. I will continue to pray and focus my energies on helping the American people recover, donating my time and energy and money to these efforts.
If you'd like to make a donation to the American Red Cross, please send it to:
American Red Cross
PO Box 37243
Washington, DC 20013
You may also phone 1-800-HELP-NOW or donate online.
For information about donating blood (which they are saying they desperately need, across the country, to help NYC), please locate your local donation center. You should call ahead. In places, the wait to donate blood is as long as 8 hours, and they may request that you come on another day.
For the latest disaster recovery information, you can stay up-to-date at www.redcross.org. They are experiencing extremely high traffic right now due to all those across the US who are trying to find out how to help. Please be patient with their servers.
I have never been much of a patriot, but I must say, God bless America and God bless us all in the time to come as we are all affected by what has happened, and how we and the world are going to react in the days and weeks to come.
- 09/01/01 - What's new is NOTHING MUCH! I've been having a great summer and carefully putting aside stacks and stacks of photos I have every intention of scanning someday. That digital camcorder is turning into kind of a curse! I have over 300 images I need to get on pages. It's time to thank the Web Gods for my 150MG quota! :) But, seriously, I'm doing OK and will get photos up soon of any or all of the following: when I tried to cut off my thumb, Sondra in all her incarnations, her babies, my backyard, puppies, puppies and more puppies, and many more friends. I'm also on the verge of unveiling two more freelance sites, one for a local chiropractor and the other for an investigative service. Did you miss my most recent, CEO Partnerships? Be patient, hang in there with me, and I'll post something SOON, I promise. :)
- 04/17/01 - Wonderful, delicious Kat came to visit from LA. Photos from her trip are here! While she was in town, I attended my first Rave. Come see!
- 04/17/01 - I've decided to password-protect my webcam. I'm only going to make it available to trusted friends and family. I appreciate the support and feedback of the total strangers with whom I've come in contact over the two years this webcam has been active, but it's time to move on.
If you're one of my friends or family members, and you already have the username/password, please click here to proceed to the webcam. If you're a friend or family member and you do not already have the username/password, please . I'm sorry, but I won't respond to requests from people I don't personally know.
Thank you again. It's been very interesting!
- I've added a SEARCH FUNCTION to my site (well, my webhosting company did, at any rate!). I'll leave a link to it at the top of this page. Click it, enter a keyword, and - BOOM - it'll tell you if that word is anywhere on my site!
- 03/17/01 - Happy St. Patrick's Day, everyone! A friend and artist, Sophie, sent me a WONDERFUL St. Patrick's Day Leprechaun.
- 03/16/01 BRACE YOURSELVES!! I've gotten a digital video camcorder! It also takes still shots, so you can now look forward to even MORE photos of my puppies and my house and my feet and my backyard and, well, anyone who sits still long enough to let me capture them on film. :) How cool is this? I've been using it all weekend, and I really think it's a rather bad-ass camera, so if you're thinking about getting one, I did a bit of research before I got this one and would be happy to help you out. For all my local friends, you're all also more than welcome to borrow it. :) (Lots of our friends have digital cameras, but we're the first camcorder!)
- I'm "featured contributor #33" on a salon website. Click here for Page 1, Page 2. For those who are regular visitors to my site, these are nothing but photos from the "Me" section on someone else's site, so you can just skip going! (That, plus their server is SO SLOW! - it's Geocities, so what do you expect, I guess.) I got some lovely, really nice and flattering email from some people who viewed my photos, and as soon as I convince myself that it's not the vainest thing in the world to post one or two, I will. I will say that one woman was so inspired that she ended up shaving her very long hair (and loving it!) after viewing my photos! I hate to point out to them that I haven't had a shaved head in over two years now, but that's OK. :) (They don't leave these photos up forever, so if you visit them in a month or so, I'm sorry if they don't work!)
- 2/21/01 - OK, so we had a big scare last night; Grits, our youngest, ran through our sliding glass door. I was sitting on the sofa, watching TV, when I heard what sounded like an explosion at the back door. I looked up in time to see Grits running away from a GIANT (2 x 3 foot) jagged hole in the sliding back door to our porch. Apparently, with it being night outside, and the back porchlight on, Grits thought the door was open, and barrelled into it at top speed. Glass was everywhere, blown as far as 20 feet (I'm not kidding) away from the door. There were huge panes of cut glass, as well as tiny shards, all waiting to cut apart tiny puppy feet. I screamed right away for Lane, who thought a gun had gone off and came running from his office. All I could think about was poor Grits, out in the backyard, possibly bleeding to death with damage to his little bulging eyes, cowering in our backyard in the dark. (I had a cousin run through a similar door when I was a child, and she had to be taken to the emergency room and was pretty severely cut up on her face and arms, so I was extra, extra afraid.) I told Lane to get shoes on and run find Grits. Just as he was about to go out through the garage, Grits reappeared at the backdoor, shaking and trembling and very, very afraid. I managed to lift him to the side of all the broken glass still attached to the pane, and I had Lane hold him while I examined him for injury. He had some cuts on his nose, his snout, his lips and on his chin. I wiped some tiny bits of glass out of his face and blotted the bleeding, which was surprisingly minimal. We watched him all night for signs of concussion or other trauma, but other than being apprehensive of the backdoor (who can blame him?), he was just fine.
I can't tell you how relieved we were, and how LUCKY we were. Our tiny doggie could have been in the emergency room that night, having his eyes operated on, and all we actually ended up with were a few minor cuts and some swelling to his snout and lips.
It took me almost an hour to clean up all the glass and cover the window in cardboard. When we had the glass folks out to fix it, they told us again how lucky we were, as the original glass was from early 1970 or before, and was decidely NOT safety glass. We had a large pane of safety glass installed, which they say Lane or I would have to work hard at to even break with our fists, so a 20 lb puppy isn't going to hurt it much, even at full speed (though he would have a bump on his noggin!).
- We have had a second night of fabulousness in the same year. If you think your heart can take it (mine almost didn't - I am getting SO OLD), come see!
- I just wrote a bit about why I started bellydancing and why I love it so much. Come see!
- 2/8/01 - You may have noticed, but we've got a whole new look going on here in the Garden. With the change from Illuminati Online to Westhost.com (both great folks who can help you out with all your web hosting/ISP needs - give them a call), and the registration of the "only-zuul" domain, I decided it was time for a facelift. We're "Zuul's Garden" right now, and our mood is a bit darker, but, really, I'm still the same Sunflower, so don't worry. :) I hope you like the new look - it's actually a tiny bit smaller (file-size-wise) than my previous index page, but I'm catering to a higher resolution/monitor size now and am using closer to an 800 x 600 web format (as opposed to 640 x 480). I'm sorry if you can't see everything on my index page without scrolling; you're probably on a laptop, a small monitor, or just have your resolution set really low. (I'm also really sorry if you're on a modem; I'd recommend Cable Modem, but I don't want you slowing things down for the rest of us!) As usual, you can still if you want to make any comments.
- OK, so there's photos of my bruise up now. It's quite impressive; come see!
- Very way-cool photos of a rare night on the town for this old lady and her friends. Come see how fabulous we can still all get!
- More photos of Grits and Pitter, starting here! (I must warn you: they continue to be the cutest puppies on the planet!)
- 1/16/01 - there's been a Rollerblading Accident! :( Jason and I
bought rollerblades on Sunday, and, true to so many stories I've heard,
within 2 hours, we were both flat on our backs in a parking garage,
moaning in pain! I have the HUGEST BRUISE (the size of a dinner plate -
I'm not kidding) on a very delicate part of my
body - photos and story to come as soon as the bruise gets all those
really nice colors in it (I'm holding out for a more vibrant
yellow, personally). This, people, is what you get when you try to keep
up with a friend 10 years your junior. Pain, pain and more pain! Someone
hand me an afghan, I'm headed (slowly) for the rocking chair!
- I've created a SITE MAP!!!! Use it (or not) to help you navigate my very large site.
- There's actually photos of our new babies! Come see photos of Grits, our new puppy, Pumpkin, our new kitty, and yes, it wouldn't be the same without more photos of Pitter!
- More bellydance photos - this time, with sword!
- I've scanned in some more photos from Halloween - come see!
- Last weekend, Lane and I drove to Huntsville to attend the college graduation of one of my oldest friends, Constance. Constance and I first met back in 1987 when she was 9 years old and was one of my campers when I was a counselor at Hermann Sons Youth Camp. We've stayed in contact over the years, and this month, she graduated Magna Cum Laude from Sam Houston State University. Click here to see some photos from that weekend.
- 12/14/00 - Welcome back! We survived almost 24 hours at home with no power during an ice storm! Very, very exciting, and SO MUCH more quiet than you'd ever imagine. We finally got to use some of our Y2K supplies from last year when we ushered in an uneventful New Year after stocking up with three months worth of food and water. Hopefully this was our excitement for the year and the real Millenium won't cause us any problems. 'Cause I'm NOT going shopping for all that stuff again! :) Anyway, it was actually pretty fun and we're all OK. Thank you to those of you who talked to me on the phone all day and helped pass the time! Electricity: it's a Good Thing. :)
- Happy Halloween! Come see my costume!
- 10/18/00 - Lane's and my big orange cat, Lava, has passed away. Here's a link to an email I sent about it to people who knew him. He was an incredibly good boy and he will be very, very much missed.
- So the other day, someone was looking at Sunflower's Words (my tribute to my good friends), and they asked me "what if you make new friends?", and I said "I guess I'll make a new section!". And I am. I have a ton of new folks I want to do pages for, and when I'm done, I'll put them all in one place, but for now, they're in my Galleries section. I plan to make pages for many "new" folks in my life: Sondra, Tim, Knox, Ellie, Glenn, Jennifer, Janet, Ivy & Tom, Hopper, and many more, but for now, this page is for Jason!
- Attention bellydancers! Your sword is a weapon under Texas law and you can face serious charges under certain circumstances! Read about it here!
- 4/21/00 - On April 17, a man I was raised with as my uncle (actually a second cousin), Erv Ashford, was killed in a plane crash while volunteering his time in Guatemala for an organization called "Wings of Hope". This is his website that he and his girlfriend, Gina, maintained. There's also an article in the Corpus Christi Times on him here. The man was a hero. The kind they make movies about. Please read the article.
- My bellydance class performed again! I've added new photos, plus some of our wonderful instructor, Almaazah!
- I was mentioned in a highly-rated thread on Slashdot and was deluged
with visitors for about a week. My webcam was under siege, and I was IO's
highest-hit site for 4 days running. One of the nice folks I met via that
happy accident made me a fan
page. Go take a look!
- 2/20/00 - I'm not sure how many folks know it yet, but I entered the "Sexiest Geek Alive" contest put on by Geek and Guru. Out of 18,000 applications, I was in the top 100, which I find hard to believe, though very exciting! I was quoted in an article by The Standard and interviewed for a local radio show's "High Tech Tuesday" (which my daddy is taping for me and I'll get the sound dudes here at work to make into Real Audio). I've been told by the folks at Geek & Guru that I'm going to be listed in their "Honorable Mention" sexy geek list, but so far, nothing's shown up on their site - I'll let you know!
PS. Happy Leap Day!
PPS. I've also done two more flash projects. Come here and here to see!
I've also added a HUGE section to my links page. (I know I just cleaned it up a few days ago - but this is NEW and EXCITING and so very, very full of very cool information.)
- So I found some more Halloween photos from October and have them online here!
- If you haven't checked out my links page lately, you should; there's new stuff in both the Really Cool AND in the Useful Links sections. :) It's ABOUT TIME!!!
- I finally remembered to link my 1999 Halloween photos up. Here's me - Lane took his down! If I'm lucky, I can find the full-length ones they shot at work and can scan them in. Nothing completes Car Crash Bride like that good, over-the-shoulder, back of the wedding dress photo!
- So I'm learning Flash, and this was my very first project! Do not mock me for my subject matter. I mean, I might as well have some FUN with it, right? :)
- OK, like you didn't expect MORE photos of Pitter, starting here!
More photos of Ella, too!
- As promised, YET more photos of Pitter, starting here!
Photos of Ella, and Buck and other folks, too!
- As promised, more photos of Pitter!
And Merry Christmas, everyone, and Happy New Year, too!
- 12/11/99 - Please welcome Pitter, our puppy!
- Bellydance photos!
- 1/99 - Wedding section! Photos, info and more photos!
- A brand new page of bellydance links! Links to everything you ever wanted to know or see about bellydance! Personal photos of me and the Crescent Moon Dancers, too!
- There's updates to the Dabb's Railroad Hotel section!
- 12/98 - I've just finished work on a brand new addition to the Galleries section of my site: art inspired by the poetry of Carl Sandburg. Please check it out! :)
- New vacation pics are here! Featuring new
Enchanted Rock pictures, wonderful bluebonnet pictures, JR, Kat, Lane,
Derek and me. Bonus Easter family photos and Edie and Lava pics!
- 5/9/98 - I've gotten my nose pierced!

About My Site
This site is mostly about my friends and family and life. I've been working on it sporadically (read: in obsessive bursts) since early 1996. I have a ton of pictures that have accumulated over the years, so please enjoy them (this site is, total, over 100 MG worth of stuff). My photos are getting larger and larger as I continue to work on the site. I'm starting to care much more about the details of the photos and less about connection speed. I'm very, very sorry if you're viewing my site on a modem. It's going to be a long, slow visit for you, and maybe you ought to visit me again, maybe from work? ;)
If you're not into photos of other people, you can go see original art, poetry or movies in the
Galleries section, or you can browse my links page for other places to go online than just
here!
In trying to make traveling through my site as painless as possible, I've added javascript menus at the top of each page. I've also added a pull-down menu at the bottom of most pages that will allow you to quickly access other sections of the site. Just click on the menu, make your choice, and you're off! There's also the SITE MAP if you get really lost and just have no idea where you are!
Also, and something that might affect you, I've password protected the bulk of the new photos of Lila (my daughter) from 2004 forward.
I dedicate this page to the memory of my dear friend, Wilson Paul Stafford, who died of AIDS August 18, 1996 (I still can't believe it's been that long). Paul was a light spirit, full of riotous energy and the dirtiest mind I've had the pleasure of knowing.
I will always miss him.
Please and let me know what you think of my site. If you'd like to return someday, just bookmark this page and as things change, I'll update them here.
BTW, I have some things I need help with. Please take a look!
