Haircut, Shoes and Girls - September 2005

A photo I took for a friend online - she'd posted a photo of her mom from years and years ago and I said "we have the same haircut". She wanted to see, so I took this for her in the backyard, messed with it a little to get it b/w and ended up really liking it, so here it is! You can see the little tips of blonde on my "bangs".

About to go out for a Mommy's Night Out drinks and snacks with Monica.

I have to show you my shoes, a gift from my Aunt Suda, and my fabulous new french pedicure on my toes. :) I never liked doing that type of pedicure before, but ever since I've been trying to wear less polish on my toenails (doctor's orders!) - when I do polish them, I tend to like the more "natural" look...and these shoes show them off perfectly!! I think they're about 40 years old. They're holding up great! I have the same pair in bright yellow. I don't wear those as much.

Me in a dress I couldn't get into since I got pregnant. I'm pretty psyched, but promptly put on a little weight, then took it off again. Now I'm DEDICATED in a healthy-eating contest with Mom and hoping to lose the rest of my baby weight (about 15 lbs) and get back to my "normal" self. I was pretty happy to squeeze into this dress, let me tell you, but I'll say that I'm sucking it in for all I'm worth here, just to look good for the photo.

Sondra, J9 and I go to see Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings. Sondra had seen them last year, and HIGHLY recommended them to us, and so when Sharon came to town this year (and tickets were only $10), we knew we had to go. (On a fashion note, CHECK OUT J9's jeans - those are wooden beads all over them - the I'm bringing back the 80s singlehanded by wearing only one long earring.)

At the show, the opening band was so good (Brown Out) that we danced so much then that we were almost exhausted by the middle of Sharon's set!! It got PACKED during the show - the crowd was huge by the stage (where we were) and when I finally had to go to the restroom, I gave up my Prime Space and met Sondra by the water and we rested on the curb. I had huge blisters on my pinky toes, and Kara (who met us there) and I ended up walking across the street to have ice cream cones before the show ended.

It's been ages since we all went out to something other than a sit-down dinner or casual drinks, and I'm sorry our photos are kind of crummy, but I assure you we had a blast - plus, J9 and I ate a lot of fried food beforehand, which is never bad - and it was a great evening.
