Steppin' Out - at long last!

So, after an extended dry spell brought on by pregnancy and baby-havin' and lots of other stuff changing in my life, September brought two wonderful opportunities to dress up and go out. It's still too hot here for wigs, so we're not AS fabu as we could be, but I don't really care, as I got to leave the house, sans Lila, and have a little grown-up fun. Here are some photos.

Monica and I went to the ballet. It was a special production for families, but Lila is too young to appreciate what's going on, so Monica went with me. We had the best time. It was really nice to get dressed up and go downtown together. It was especially nice, as Monica was my "last minute" date; J9 was down with food poisoning!!! We are thankful to Bob, Monica's husband, for holding down their fort (and their three kids) alone while Monica went out with me. :)

The ballet was "Not Afraid of the Dark" and if you have kids, TAKE THEM TO SEE THIS. With music by Joe Scruggs and a lot of black light action, the kids were screaming with laughter and Monica and I were too. Fun for everyone. Go see it if you have the opportunity!! (Be sure not to miss the video clips on their website. You can get a feel for how cool this show is.)

Mostly, this photo is included so you can see my shoes, which I love. PLEASE NOTE that these are pre-pregnancy shoes, and I'm wearing them!!! :)

OK, so then there was another time this same month when Sondra came into town (she moved, in case you don't know) and she and J9 and I got cute and went out to wreck havoc. Sondra had already had a very long day of Car Trouble Drama, so we were grateful to make it out at all.

Again, another photo included SOLELY SO YOU CAN SEE MY SHOES. This pair was a gift from my Aunt Suda. They're vintage, and wonderfully orange, and she gave me the exact pair also in bright yellow!! How lucky am I?!? J9 says that it's a curse that none of the three of us wears the same size shoes. She totally wants to wear my orange shoes. Who wouldn't?!

So, when everyone got there, we lined up in the "photo taking spot", and were all set to have our photos taken. Lila crawled over as fast as she could and stood up and clamored to be picked up and to be in the photo. That's my daughter!! :) Can you see Sondra's lips on the side of Lila's face? I love this photo. She's clapping with joy and being with her Aunt Sondra and Aunt Jeaneane and having her photo taken. :)

Three girls, about to be out on the town. Sondra is wearing my shirt from the disco ball and Halloween years back and apparently, we discovered, when SHE wears it, it apparently becomes see-through in the camera flash. I have edited the photo for family viewing here. ;) (Safe for work! haha)

One more photo of me, just for good measure. I have freshly dyed hair, a new shirt my mom bought me, and top AND bottom false eyelashes. :) Ah, I missed my false eyelashes. Lila kept pointing to my eyes and going "oooo, ooooo". :)
