We got to go back in for a second ultrasound to check the position of my placenta, and here are some photos! (FYI, my placenta has moved into the proper position and all is well....) While we were there, Lila was curled up TIGHT like a bean with her arms and her feet up by her face (limber baby!), so it was a little difficult to get as many good photos as before. She's also much larger, so we could only see larger parts of her at one time. She's got skin now, and we even saw HAIR (it's on the video - we're still working on getting photos off that), so she's much more "baby like" and less "alien looking". :) Lane says that it helps if you squint when you're looking at them. :)
This is Lila's face, up close. You can see her left eye and the curve of her cheek. The bright white line is the bridge of her nose, and the dark area beneath it is her mouth. She looks like she has fat cheeks, but that could just be the ultrasound seeing the bone and not the skin on top of it.
This is a shot, not as close up, of Lila's face. Her right eye is still in shadow, but pretty much everything else is as I described it above. Her cheeks look more like we're seeing bone, not flesh in this one (I'm told that white represents bone in an ultrasound), so it looks like she has nice, high cheekbones!
This is Lila's right profile. You can see the white (bone) of her forehead cloping down into her button nose. Her lips are beneath that, with her chin tucked into her chest.
While we were having the ultrasound, she was mostly asleep, but she woke up and opened her eyes toward the end. This shot is really similar to the first one on this page, except that we can see her left eye is open and staring right at us! It's a little creepy, but it's also way cool. I'm pretty sure the round thing by her face is her hand in a fist, but I could be dead wrong.
