Yay, it's detailed parts of the nursery!Click here to go on to the second detail page!
This nameplate is on Lila's door. I bought a wooden base and Lane found a great font and then I painted it. You can't see it, but it's covered in glitter. Hopefully, we'll actually HAVE A GIRL! :)
This is the great crib set from Robin. Check out the super-cute mobile. It plays the Brahms Lullaby (also known as "Lullaby and Goodnight"). Lane and I think the animals on the ark go great with the nursery fish theme. The bumper pads actually have dolphins on them!
Here is a view of the crib at night, with the blue lights overhead. They're specialty lights, dark blue with white wire, made for weddings. They don't get hot at all (no likelihood of setting the netting on fire!) and when one light goes out, the rest of the lights stay lit. We plan to leave these lights on most of the time at night. I think Lila will love looking a them, don't you?
These are details from the curtains. I cut out underwater-themed shapes from colored felt and stitched them on the curtains with black embroidery thread (to match the curtain rods and bookcases). The shapes include: dolphin, bubbles, angel fish, seahorses, starfish, shells and one very special crab (they were really a pain to cut out and I could already barely move my hand!).
I got this fairy from the same place I got the blue lights. Originally, I wanted to hang the fairy below the lights over the crib, but it didn't work out the way I wanted it to, so I put it over by where I sit when I'll hold Lila to breastfeed. When the lights are turned on at night, you can see the fairy's shadow on the ceiling. I think that's pretty cool. :)
This is the overhead fan. We painted the blades orange, and they look fantastic! The handpainted fan pulls came from eBay, and I was so excited to find the orange highlights on the sun when they arrived.
Here are some of the stickers from IdeaStix. They are really cool and they work exactly the way they say they will. They stick on almost anything, and you can peel them off time and time again and they stay sticky! Wow! They make some murals, too, that I'm looking at for the bathtub, but I'm not sure yet. I'll let you know!
This handbraided rug is in front of Lila's main window. I bought it on eBay. It's soft and nice and I imagine Lila standing (or crawling or sitting) on it while she looks out the front window. Here, Pitter demonstrates. :) And for those keeping track, that's my belly getting in the way of the camera in the bottom left-hand corner. LOL! Most of the books in the bookcase belonged to me when I was younger. I'm so happy I kept all this stuff, aren't you?!?
