Halloween 2005 - ETC!!

Halloween was kind of low-key this year. We had a small neighborhood party in our front yard, and attended several "kid-themed" events across town. I went as Glinda the Good Witch from the Wizard of OZ. Lila was a princess ballerina angel (we hit all the high points). You can see photos of her in her section (password required), but here are some of me!

Lane took this in the driveway and I messed around with it in PhotoShop. It's my favorite photo of me in my costume, even though it doesn't really show much of it! :)

Front and back views. I made my sleeves and crown from scratch - the crown, in fact, started off as black poster board that I cut and taped and sprayed and adorned. The skirt came from GoodWill (but I already owned it as it was something I'd worn to the ballet before) and the petticoat under it was a leftover from high school homecoming dances - back when the girls used to still dress like southern belles. The corset is my old tried and true Victoria's Secret corset that has seen MUCH wear and tear, but still manages to make my boobs look great, so HAIL to VC and their corsets. :) New wig (yay, new wig!), old gloves, and my daughter's wand and wings.

Underneath it, I'm wearing black socks and hightops. :)

A good shot of my crown - I have to say I'm pretty psyched about how it turned out. It was so humid out that by the end of the night, the crown was kind of wilting in places, and it caused the little jewels to pop off in places, but it started out gorgeous, so at least I have this photo!

I wrote something about my costume this year if you want to read it!

Pampas grass in the sunset.

Last week at dinner at Luby's with my folks and Lila, this appeared outside of the window. It arched from one side of the sky to the other and was just amazing. It was actually a double rainbow for about 30 seconds, something I've rarely seen in my lifetime, especially with part of it being a full arc.

I love this photo that Lane took of some Christmas lights!

A lovely close-up shot of a beetle that Lila found on the porch.
