Mimsy Kitty, our newest addition! 2005

So....in early January, I had this really vivid dream about Edie, my sweetest kitty who died in September. She came to me, hatching out of an egg, and she was healthy and fat and soft and so beautifully colored, like when she was younger. As I held her, she changed into another cat, a grey cat with green/yellow eyes, and when I woke up, I knew it was time to look for another cat. I started online with the place we got Pumpkin and then to the place I'd gotten Edie (both are animal shelters), but I didn't see a cat there that "connected". I started looking out of town, and ended up at a PAWS shelter in a nearby town. I saw a photo of a kitty, not one like I had dreamed, but one that reminded me instantly of Edie - she didn't look the same, but definitely had an attitude about her that was reminicient of Edie. I called that day and my father met me at the shelter to watch Lila while I checked out the kitty. She was perfect. Initially, we named her "Mimi", short for "Mimosa", but that just didn't stick, so after a week or so, I hit upon "Mimsy". So this is Mimsy (Mimosa) Licksalot Porpington, our newest addition. Please join me in welcoming her to our family!

These are the photos that reminded me of Edie. You can see how similar they are in their attitudes, can't you? (Oh, and I made this back when we were calling her "Mimi" - I just noticed it wasn't using her "new" name of Mimsy. You'll forgive me if I'm too lazy to change it back, won't you??) :)

A lovely closeup shot of Mimsy in the window of Lila's room. This was taken one of the first days we had her. She's almost twice this size now, and still growing! Lane thinks she's going to be huge, but I don't know....her paws are pretty big, though!

Lila with Mimsy. She'd just finished riding her like a horse, and Mimsy didn't mind a bit!!

Mimsy with Pumpkin in the cat tower. I know it looks pretty peaceful, but trust me, this was in between fighting for both of them! We tell Pumpkin that he deserves whatever he gets, because he used to TORMENT Edie when he was the kitten, so now what comes around goes around!

Believe it or not, this was taken with Pitter the FIRST DAY we got Mimsy. We were concerned about how she'd do with the dogs, but she loved them from the start (after she realized those strange noises were "normal"). We are so glad to have Mimsy in our family, already so adjusted and happy.

Another day, asleep with Pitter.

Asleep with Grits.

Clearly very uptight - NOT - asleep with Grits.

Taking advantage of being the only one on the sofa!
