Stonecarving!

So, Lane and I took a class in stonecarving, and these are some pictures of my results (Lane will have to do his own page). The stone is limestone, one of the softest stones to carve, and I used your basic hammer and chisels to work.

Lane and I have gotten immense pleasure out of carving stone, and I highly recommend it to anyone with some stress to relieve. :) We haven't done it in over a year, because we really don't have an appropriate area to do it, but we still have all the tools, and TONS (literally) of limestone sitting around, so one day maybe we'll surprise you and start up again!

Something I did for Loyd and Whitney. The symbol comes from "The Dark is Rising" by Susan Cooper, a book Loyd and I loved as children (and still do).

 

Something for my friends in the Illuminati. You're really not cleared for anything more than that. Fnord.

 

A close-up of the Irish cross I did for my parents' 37th wedding anniversary. This my favorite thing I've carved.

 

To put its size in perspective, this is the cross next to me. Mom and Daddy have it in their backyard in a garden.
