Hey folks.
I have sad news. Lava, Lane's and my big orange cat, died very
suddenly last night. He was 3 1/2 years old and we'd had him since he was
a kitten.
Around midnight, I saw Lava in the back room, sleeping by our dresser. He
woke up when I came in and I scratched his face and he was purring and
looking happy and healthy. When I came back in the room around 10 minutes
later, he was dead. The emergency vet folks (over the phone) thought he
may have had a stroke or a heart-attack.
Lane and I wrapped him in a towel and buried him in the backyard, next to
a friend's cat also buried there.
He was a very good boy and we'll miss him very much. This is all very
difficult. We do plan to get another orange kitten soon so that the new
one can be raised with the new puppy.
I'll say that I'm grateful that he passed away inside, as opposed to just
out somewhere where we'd have to wonder if he was lost or hurt, and I'm
grateful that he didn't seem as if he were in any pain when I saw him
last. None of this is easy, but it could have been a lot worse.
