Hill Country Ranch - The Scenery!next page
It is GORGEOUS at the ranch. The weather was perfect for us this year: not too hot, not too cold. In our wanderings, we discovered many beautiful things - and got photos of some of them!
The sun sets behind a Live Oak tree.
A view up from the second dam.
I know this photo is blurry, but I LOVE IT. It looks like a watercolor to me. I love the color of the evening sky in the water.
A view from the dock above the second dam. There's good fishing here, as Bob discovered later. I like the texture of this photo with the wood of the dock next to the glassy surface of the water.
A view up to the main house from the first dam. You can see the house TINY up on the cliff - see the chimney?
Below the second dam. WONDERFUL water.
A dead-ish tree with the sunset behind it.
Water spilling over the first dam at night.
Strange plants growing beneath the dam.
A view from the main house to the first dam. See it, tiny in the distance?
A view from the main house to the RIGHT of the first dam. See the tiny clearing of the feeder? (This gives you an idea how far off those javelinas were when we took the photo of them.) Later, when you see the horseback riding photos, that hill to the back right is where we are. Click here to see an animated gif of the sunset over this hill. WAY cool.
More dead tree at night. Sans sunset. :)
A closeup of a cactus flower. Lane says it looks "ghostly" and "luminous". :)
The roots of an uprooted tree. It floods here alot, so trees have to be DUG IN or they don't stand a chance. This tree wasn't dug in enough. See all the debris in the roots?
