Hill Country Ranch - The Activities!next page
For "outside" folks, the ranch is HEAVEN on Earth. You can hike, canoe, swim, fish, bird watch, animal watch, RIDE HORSES, go caving and probably a few things I haven't thought of yet. "Inside" folks can read, sleep or eat - believe me, plenty of all three went on. There's no internet, no cell phones (unless you stand at a certain angle with your leg stuck out) and relatively no TV. Here are some photos of some of the "outside" things we did while we were there.
Me by the water. Dig that hydrilla to the left. Gross!! Do you love my hat? Sondra bought it for me years ago. I love it!!
JR and I are clowning around. I'm trying to get my boobs on his head. :)
Mom swimming. The water was SO GREAT and Mom and Whit and I swam for over an hour while other folks canoed (that word doesn't look right). Lane LOVES the second photo and INSISTED that it be black and white. Don't ask me why. :) I think it looks good, though. (ps. Mom is NOT drowning)
Helen and Bob in their canoe. They spent a lot of time off alone while Bob went fishing. Helen is a very understanding wife. Bob did good. They are so "outdoorsie" I think they enjoyed what the ranch had to offer more than any of us!
JR and Michael in their canoe. JR has on no sunscreen. It makes me cringe. But I digress. I love their reflection in the water here, don't you?
Whitney and I in the long boat (we ran out of canoes). Mom was it it before she went swimming. This is also before Whit and I went swimming. Don't you just love those "I'm sticking out the camera and taking a photo of myself" photos? :)
Lane swimming. He has no shirt on. He is in full sun. Hell may be freezing over. :)
JR relaxes in the water below the second dam. He would go under the spillways (is that the right word?) and use them as a water massage. It was really good, but a little painful for me - I only tried it once - but JR seemed to LIVE under it!
Bob fishes.
Bob and Helen swim by the first dam (there are three on the property). I'm afraid of monsters, so I don't swim that close to the dam. Helen said it took a bit of willpower for her to jump in, but she did it! Yay, Helen!
A closeup of that same photo. I think it looks like Bob only has one arm, don't you? He has two, though. :) I've seen it.
Michael and JR by the second dam. This is where I did all my swimming with Lila.
JR at night on top of the first dam (water is to the right and a BIG drop-off to the left). We had a great time exploring that first night.
