Before we left the house, Mom was looking through a bunch of photos Lane shot of me (he was testing out new camera equipment). She came across this one:
and said "There's something about this photo that reminds me of my mother". She said that she couldn't explain it, but that something about it, the eyes, the pose, put her in mind of Grandma. Most of the women on my mom's side have the same eyes: Aunt Suda, Aunt Mitzie, Grandma, Mom and I all have the same eyes, but there has never been much more of a percieved physical resemblance between Grandma and me.
Mom left me with this puzzle, and late on Sunday, I found a photo Daddy had given me of Mom and of Grandma (that I LOVE, btw):
The tilt of her head and her smile and her nose looked TOO MUCH like the one Mom had picked from the stack, and I decided to use my graphics skills to merge the photos and see exactly where we "fit". You can see below that our noses and eyes are the same. We clearly have different chins, but our jawlines are extremely similar. Our smile lines are exact. If my head were turned just slightly more toward the camera, I think we could have had much more of a match. I've never seen more physically than the eyes, so this was a revelation to me.
