Carnaval 2001In the spirit of the Monster Pansy Ball, a group of us attended the Most Spectacular and Fabulous Carnaval 2001. This is our town's answer to the Carvaval parties going on in Brazil, and we do our best to do it up right. It took me four hours to get ready (two were on my hair alone, which actually included a lot of wire - I had to use cutters to get out when we finally drug back home in the wee hours of the morning), and Sondra's house and my bathroom looked like a couple of glitter-covered drag queens exploded inside, but it was SO FUN, more fun than I've had in a long time, and we all SO REALLY needed it.... Lane's and my camera was broken this day (of all days!), so we had to rely on the reprints of friends. These are mostly Tim's, with a few of Rita's and Sergio's thrown in at the end. Once Hopper (who is in NONE of these photos, like Lane) gets his photos developed, I'll put more online. Until then, this is what you get!
This is me, with Lane on the side (not thinking he was in the shot), preparing for the evening ahead with a healthy dose of OJ and some sushi.
This is a close-up shot of the photo above. My hair was partly the inspiration of my hairdresser (who maintained I could not go to Carnaval with the same hair-do I had at the Pansy Ball), and partly my creation. Several of the "sparklies" I had on my face aren't showing up here; they're washed out in the flash, but you get the general idea....
Tim and me, posing with, well, my breasts. :) Sondra points out that this is the second set of photos in a row that feature, well, my breasts, prominently. For those who know me in real life and are going, where is she hiding those puppies, all I have to say is "corset" and "push-up bra". 'Nough said, right? :) As a woman who has never been known for those particular physical attributes, I have to say I'm tickled pink to have these photos to treasure!
