As you all likely know by now, I ALWAYS ALWAYS do a "dry run" for my makeup. So many times, you will have a great idea, but when you execute it and see it in a photograph, it's just lacking in some ways. I learned years ago to do it once a few weeks prior to Carnaval, take lots of photos, and evaluate the results.
Here are photos from my dry run makeup. I think it took me close to 2 1/2 hours to do the first time, since I was kind of winging it on the details. I had real ideas as to what elements I wanted to incorporate, but I wasn't sure how the tiny bits and pieces would come together.
I stressed out a lot over the symmetry of the makeup. I wanted eactly the same number of "petals" around my eyes and the same width of "teeth". This is very, very difficult!! Doing an asymetrical design is SO much easier than something that needs to be exact. I remember all the pains of my jester makeup. I wanted the green spikes to be EXACT. I remember using a ruler at one point! NO FUN!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE these lashes. They were amazing with my makeup. HOWEVER, when I got on my headdress, the lashes, particularly the one on my left eye, kept catching on my headdress and pulling down. You'll be able to see this in several of my photos. Oh well, live and learn!
One of the things that concerned me was smiling. I thought that smiling would make a very strange effect of "double teeth" since I had "teeth" drawn on my face. I wasn't smiling in any of my photos, but when I went next door to show my neighbors Jim and KC my makeup, they insisted that NO, smiling actually made the makeup look BETTER, so SMILE AWAY! I was so grateful for their advice.
Lila can't stop looking at me. She's not quite sure what to think. I love her look here.
She loves it!
Rarrr!
Fancy makeup love.
With sweetie pie Lane.
My neighbor Jim. Every year I get my photo taken with him. They were going to be gone for Carnaval itself, so I had to settle for my dry run makeup.
I liked how this looked when I hopped in the shower. You can see I would never make it if it rained at Carnaval!!!
