Carnaval 2007 - Light It Up

So I've already explained the How We ("I") Got Kicked Out Of the Hyatt and We Got No Decent Photos story, right? (If you're just now joining us, you can read about that here.) Well, as I told you, I was completely unsatisfied with the photos we got at Carnaval, and I decided to do it all again. Lane was a rock star and joined me in the front yard around one in the morning (we were at it until almost three!) and acted the fool to get these fantastic photos of me and my costume.

There was this photographer at Carnaval, she had this fantastic camera, I have no idea who she was....but she did this thing where she would take your picture and then she'd rapidly swirl her camera clockwise or counterclockwise, like she was drawing a circle with her lens around your face. I mentioned this to Lane, and we wondered what she was doing, and what effects she was achieving. Lane decided to mess around with the technique, and he took a single photo and swirled the camera. As he looked at the LED screen, he went "oh, COOL" and I had to run over and see. See? See?

What resulted was one of the most fun, fantastic photo shoots and some of the COOLEST photos of me ever in a Carnaval costume, and it was all from this experiment because we were curious about the photos that girl was taking.

Basically, Lane would set the camera to night, then right after the flash, he'd move the camera some way or another. He would leap about, moving the camera spastically, just making me laugh and laugh and getting the most amazing results.

I love this photo. I only wish I had held the scepter up higher; it would have greatly improved the composition. I probably could have photoshopped something, but I just didn't want to fool with it.

It's cold! I'm frolicing in the driveway! It's cold!

Lane took this one by standing up in the bed of his truck so he could see the top of my headdress. I will never, ever make a headdress that isn't lit up. It's so fantastic, I can't even tell you. :)

OK, in my head, I'm casting this powerful spell and this current of energy runs from my Magic Hat down to my hand, where I will spite the oncoming evil!

I miss D&D. I also love this photo.

I wish I knew what was making that bright white light, but I don't. Perhaps an oncoming car? Or just the power from my Gauntlets of Fire???

Lane said that it was like I had this giant, glowing Cthulhu on my head. I love Lane.

Two last ones....
