Carnaval 2005 - Lane and me!

So I found this AMAZING mask for Lane at a local shop. It's made from what J9 called the "ruff" of a peacock (I have no idea what part of the peacock it's from) and a single peacock "eye" tail feather. It reminded me of a tiki god, so I came up with the idea to make a "samba leader" staff for him and pair it with a matching grass skirt. Lane found a great Hawaiian shirt at Goodwill and BAM, he had a great costume. I honestly think this is the most fun he's ever had at Carnaval; he led conga lines all night, jumping up and down the whole time. :) YAY Lane!

A really funky shot of Lane, where he looks like he's about two feet tall with no waist. Mostly, it's that his shirt is going right into the grass skirt. I assure you, he has a waist. :) The samba staff had bells all over it, but by the end of the evening, he had shaken it so hard, only one or two were left!!

Lane makes a "tiki god" face to match his staff.

Lane and me.

A full-length shot of the two of us. Don't we make a pair?! (A pair of WHAT, I ask you!!!)

John sent me this photo. He says: "Here is a candid photo (Dana's favorite kind) that I like to call: 'Ahhh! I'm not wearing my head-dress!!'"

I about fell over laughing. We'd started taking photos again after a break, and I realized that I wasn't wearing my headdress. You can see the "STOP TAKING PHOTOS NOW" gesture I'm doing as I rush to put on the rest of my costume. :) LOL, John, thanks!!
