THE TIME HAS COME!!!!
After a year of waiting patiently, our crew went out and did Carnaval up right! We (well, the grrrls, anyway) worked extremely long and hard on our costumes. I'll tell you a bit about each as we see it.
It's a little strange this year with photos, as Lane and I went off and forgot our camera on the kitchen counter on the way to Sondra's, and all we got with our camera were a few photos of each other. J9 took some with her camera, and she was kind enough to let me make copies (and subsequent scans), so we have those. Then a friend of Rita's and Sergio's took a bunch with his digital camera. I was able to order prints of those online. But there is no "Christmas Card Photo", for example, of Sondra and me, which disappoints me! We're always so good about getting one of the two of us together, and it just didn't happen this time! Boo!
Please "make do" with what we do have!

From left to right: Cara, Rita, J9, me, Sondra
Cara is wearing a silver harness she made in a jewelry-making class at UT. The harness holds beakers, and the beakers hold flowers. The flowers are pretty much all holding Cara! Her hair was in braids with colored feathers to match the flowers woven in. She was full of color and very beautiful!
Rita is wearing a skirt she made from tubing and materials she bought from Home Depot. The clear tubing is filled with silver glitter, and, as you can see, Rita is covered in silver bodypaint. You can also see by her hand over Cara's shoulder how conscious she is not to rub her paint on anyone (though she did report that Sergio was "all shiney" afterwards from kissing her!) - isn't Rita as kind and considerate as she is beautiful!?
J9 is a mermaid, with shorts she made herself, trimmed to match her pasties. Her pasties are tiny shells, cut specifically to show off her mermaid tattoo on the curve of her right breast. I made her pasties, did most of her hair and all of her face makeup. She did her own body paint and crystal "bubbles" on her skin. J9 got a LOT of attention that night, as she was "MISS FABULOUS" and danced until the rest of us were ready to drop!
Then there's me....but we'll get into me in a bit....:)
Sondra, in a fabulous butterfly bra and panty set that she modified to suit her own needs! I made her tiny pasties so she wouldn't be buck naked, and she made the most fabulous poof skirt out of black netting that bustled up high in the back. Unfortunately, we have no good photos of the skirt! :(
Cara, Sergio, Sondra and J9. We were celebrating Sergio's birthday that evening. Do you think he had a good time? :)
Sondra, Rob, me (hiding), J9 and Cara, all huddled on the bleachers. It was COLD that night, and there were times we were all freezing to death!
Rob and Sondra are now dating. What a story to tell people, about meeting for the first time at Carnaval! ("See, I was dancing, and my boob fell out of my bra, and so-and-so was kind enough to put it back, and we got to talking...." - It could happen!)
J9, Tim, Cara, Sondra and Rob's head. This is the only photo I have of Tim so far, so relish it!!!
