My great-aunt Gertrude turned 94 in July. We celebrated with cake at her nursing home. She is still extremely "with it", with MORE than perfect hearing and memory (only her sight is failing her). She lived alone until she was past 90 and has only recently had to move to a home for more extensive care. I have truly been blessed to have her in my life. She is funny and feisty and a lot of fun to be with. In her lifetime, she has traveled across the country in a covered wagon and seen more than I could ever hope to in twice as many years! I hope we have her around to celebrate many birthdays to come! (Thank you to Lane for taking these photos! Otherwise, we would have none!)

Me and Aunt Gertrude, about to have cake.

Sonny, Aunt Gertrude's son, visits with his mom.

Mom and her sister Suda and Aunt Gertrude sit and visit. Aunt Suda was able to surprise Aunt Gertrude with a visit from Albuquerque!

Aunt Gertrude, Mom and me.

Suda, me and Mom. Everyone in my family is so "height challenged" that they make me look tall! How cool is that?! (apologies for the less-than-perfect quality of this image!)

My (third) cousin Fara's daughters and me. They are Kelsie, Devin and Sydney. Aren't they beautiful?
