Bellydance!
Sometime in 1997, I started bellydancing. Except for taking some time off while I was pregnant, I've been dancing almost every week since then. I just love it. It's an amazing form of exercize, both for my body and for my mind. (I also get to dress up in shiney costumes and wear funky makeup, which you just KNOW I love!) I have met so many wonderful women through bellydancing; it seems to draw a certain type of women to it, and I find myself completely at home with them. They are open and honest and generous and very "sisterly".
I have several sections of photos of myself and of my troupe-mates dancing and posing. I hope you enjoy them. I also have some words on why I bellydance. I collect old 1970s bellydance albums; one day I hope to get an index of them online so everyone can see them.
I also maintain a pretty extensive bellydance links page. It has information on teachers, vendors, musicians, reference sites and more! Go take a look. If you want your own link added to the page, please , I'm glad to help you out.
I have lived on the lip
of insanity, wanting to know reasons,
knocking on a door. It opens.
I've been knocking from the inside!...
Dance, when you're broken open,
Dance, if you've torn the bandage off.
Dance in the middle of the fighting.
Dance in your blood.
Dance, when you're perfectly free.
